The Parable of the Blind

2020

Installation with sticks.

In the painting “The Parable of the Blind” (1568), by Pieter Brueghel the Elder, a group of blind men follow a blind. The first one, the leader, is falling into a ditch. Those who follow him don’t seem to notice his fall. All are carrying their sticks, but they don’t use them to decide its path. They only follow the one who’s in front of them. For the installation “The Parable of the Blind”, five sticks found in the forest are installed in the same position as those in Brueghel’s painting. Here, they are floating in space as if they were saved from the fall.
