En altres paraules

Early research into machine translation, especially made by North American programmers and computer experts in the 50s, gave birth to a new discipline called Computational Linguistics. At the same time, another applied branch was being developed under the name of Translation Studies. Even though their closeness not only in space and time, but also in subject, it is paradoxical that even nowadays one is still unaware of the way the other approaches the issue of translation. Are there any notions in common between both disciplines? Would a dialogue between them be possible? The group show “In Other Words”, selected by Can Felipa Arts Visuals Call 2014, is based on a research about the poetics of translation errors and finds in the work of some artists different ways to approach to the notion of “error”.
