The Ter’s banknote

What if, instead of identifying ourselves with towns or counties, we thought of ourselves as inhabitants of a river basin? All the beings —human and non-human— who live along the Ter, from Ulldeter to Torroella de Montgrí, are part of the same community. The Ter banknote invites us to recognize ourselves as a community of the river, to love it and to take care of it.

500 banknotes have been issued, created in the spring of 2024 by children between 5 and 7 years old from the Escola d’Arts Plàstiques de Torelló. One side shows the fishing heron, guardian of the river. The other, the trout, symbol of fresh and clean water. This initiative is part of the “Bitllets blaus” project, promoted by the artist Núria Arias, a resident of the Ebro basin.
